Event Location Editor
Events are defined in Information Records
Information Records in Clooz hold the content information coming from a document or another source. The Information Record differs from a Source record which contains most of the citation information that describes the document or the Repository record that is referring to the facility or an online service where the document was found. based on the information provided in that source
A Source record in Clooz should be viewed as the higher-level component of one or more source citations. Source citation details are usually included in the citing Information Record.. Each event has a location field which often contains details such as the name of a church, cemetery or hospital. For this reason, the location values are not maintained in "lists" like the location field values found in the main part of the Information Record. Rather, they are specific to that particular event. Since each event location is a separate value, issues can arise where the formats are inconsistent (some terms spelled out, abbreviated, or omitted altogether; e.g., Township or County) or simple typographical errors. The Event Location Editor is provided as a tool for reviewing all of the various location entries you have made.
The list of all event location values appears in the left panel along with the number of events using that value. This list can be sorted by the location value or by the number of events by clicking on the respective header. Specific Information Records and Events containing each value are listed in the right panel.
To perform a mass edit of all occurrences simply edit the text in the text edit box at the bottom of the left panel and click the Replace button.
To be more strategical in your editing, edit the Information Record containing the event. A context menu item is provided to immediately bring up the Information Record editor for you to make any changes.
Events are what provide the most information when exporting to other genealogy programs, so you'll probably be wanting to adhere to whatever format you have adopted in those programs. But be careful in making changes that add location details which are not supported by the original data presented in the source.
